Welcome to the historic team chess league of the nation's capitol - going strong since 1948!
At the beginning of each season, DCCL is open to any team that is located within Washington, DC or its immediate suburbs. Individual players are also always welcome as team rosters fluctuate.
The D.C. Chess League pits D.C. metropolitan area chess teams in monthly matches over a 9-month season. The League is divided into three sections: Open, Amateur, and Reserve. Matches are scheduled for Friday evenings starting at 8pm using a G/90 +30 time control.
Matches are between 2 teams of 4-players each, with the "Home" designated team hosting the match at their location. Teams generally alternate playing "Home" and "Away" month-to-month.
At the end of the season, plaques are awarded to the winning team in each section & their individual players, as well as to the players with the best record in each section.
